"A wine with rough edges - like walking barefoot across the meadow. It can pinch and tweak , maybe hurt and surprise.” That's what Matthias says when you ask him about his bare feet.

It felt a bit barefoot when we started this experiment in 2015. True to the motto ALL GOOD THINGS ARE WILD AND FREE, we simply left a few barrels after the harvest and waited to see what happens. The barefoot keg started and stopped its fermentation itself - the wildest thing we had in the cellar. At the same time, it is also what has caused the most discussion . The basis for this were absolutely healthy and handpicked grapes. Fermented spontaneously with wild yeasts from our vineyard in 500l wooden barrels. After a long storage on the fine lees, we bottled our Barefoot 2017 and since then it has been allowed to go its own way in the bottle. We have tasted it again and again, and now it fascinates us with every sip.
