The Gewanne Rothlauf lies in the steepest part of the Thüngersheimer Johannisberg. The vineyards belong to the so-called Thüngersheim saddle, a tectonic fault in which the red sandstone layer has broken through the overlying shell limestone. Here are two of the geological formations that arose in the Franconian valley, right next to each other. In addition, updrafts ensure good ventilation and support the cool climate of the Rothlauf. These special features give the wines from there a very individual signature: filigree, straightforward and long-lasting.
